Ballet Classes

Join us to develop your love and passion of dance! Launching the Royal Ballet School’s new Affiliate Training and Assessment programme. Achieve a solid technical foundation in classical ballet where emphasis is placed on nurturing confidence, creativity and self-expression. Classes takes a uniquely holistic approach to the learning of dance. Alongside performance skills, students will learn about the art form as a whole, including repertoire, choreography and appreciation.

Isobel Powell – Principal Ballet Teacher. BA (Hons) ARAD, FDI
 
Isobel is currently completing her training to become an affiliate teacher of The Royal Ballet School. Isobel began her vocational training at the Arts Educational School Tring and then went on to complete her professional training at the prestigious Bird College. At a young age she was an associate of The Royal Ballet School and performed as a soloist with the National Youth Ballet. She also performed with the English National Ballet in their production of Romeo and Juliet at The Royal Albert Hall. Isobel’s passion for music and choreography began when she was awarded the Barbara Geoghan choreographic award twice and her pieces were then performed at Sadlers Wells, London. In addition to being awarded the ISTD Young Dancer of the Year Isobel’s choreography won The Creation Choreography Award from UK’s leading dance school principal Luis D’Abreu.  Isobel is currently Head of Dance at Bristol’s vocational Musical Theatre Vocational college The Big Act. She has also recently taught contemporary dance at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Isobel was awarded a scholarship to study tap dance with The American Tap Dance Foundation in New York in 2019. She has also performed and worked alongside several UK dance companies. Her theatre credits include Louise in Carousel (Cheltenham Everyman Theatre), ensemble Hooray for Hollywood (The Orchard Theatre, Kent),  dancer – Cinderella QDOS Entertainment (Swansea Grand Theatre), Swerve Theatre Dance Company, Cirque Show (Dubai), and work with Hofesh Shechter Company (Trinity Laban) She currently teaches her own professional tap and jazz workshops for dance students and professionals throughout the South West as well as teaching at leading vocational colleges. She has a wealth of experience teaching children of all ages, coaching pupils for ISTD and RAD exams as well as competitions and eisteddfod dances. Many of Isobel’s students have gone on to either land major West End roles or continue their professional training at top London vocational colleges.
